However, top prices arrived later in the section with a 17th century-design oak dresser with a shelf panelled back over three frieze drawers and three panelled cupboards below on block feet leading the way.
Consigned from a local estate the dresser attracted interest from a group of Irish buyers new to the room who took bidding to £2600.
Traditional favourites included a George III mahogany corner cupboard and an 18th century oak oval top gateleg table.
The 3ft 7in (1.09m) high cupboard, with a swan neck pediment over two panelled cupboard doors enclosing shelves above two further panelled doors on shaped bracket feet went to the trade at £2500. Although the table, with turned baluster had some later restorations it took £1500 from a Kent dealer.
The Kent trade also acquired a late Victorian mahogany D-end extending dining table, 7ft 10in (2.39m) long with its three extra leaves at £1150 and an 18th century fruitwood and walnut lowboy, 2ft (61cm) high with three drawers and shaped apron on cabriole legs at £1350.
