Grosvenor House, Olympia, the Hali Carpet and Textiles Fair, and the International Ceramics Fair were all running concurrently and early reports suggested running rather well.

While the specialist Ceramics Fair had the best selection in its field, there was also plenty of fine porcelain at Grosvenor House, like this Frankenthal figure of Scapin from the Italian Comedy series, 6in (15cm) high, modelled by Johann Wilhelm Lanz c.1755-6. Coming on to the market from an old German private collection, this figure was sold with its companion Columbine by Munich dealer Gertrud Rudigier for £30,000.
