Illustrated right, top is a copy of John Guillim’s Display of Heraldry, 1679, which, with majority of the plates in colour and bound in neatly re-backed contemporary red morocco, sold at £840 to the most active of the trade buyers in this part of the sale.
Illustrated right, bottom is a spread from John Hanson Sperling’s Arms on the Monuments and Painted Glass in the Cities of London and Westminster..., a manuscript of 1875 containing numerous hand coloured drawings, which went to the most prominent of the private buyers, at £1020.
