The top seller was a George IV mahogany bookcase knocked down at £2700 and other strong furniture results included an 18th century jointed oak side table at £2300 and a 19th century mahogany glazed bookcase at £1600.
As always, Beswick figures were popular. Specialist dealers, local farmers and private buyers fought over a Hereford Cow which took £400; a Guernsey Cow at £200 and a Leghorn Cockerel at £165.
Ceramics offered by Wintertons are, unsurprisingly given the location, generally strong and at Bakewell a 91/2in (24cm) high 19th century Alcock and Co. majolica frog jug doubled its top estimate to bring £300 despite a small hairline crack, and a First Period Worcester cress dish made £210.
Antiques advertising has a strong collecting base and a collection of signs offered here, including a Milkmaid Brand Milk enamel sign, took £1000, again despite some damage.

Derbyshire debut pulls in bidders from across country
THE first sale by the Staffordshire-based auctioneers Wintertons to be held at Bakewell’s Agricultural Business Centre in neighbouring Derbyshire was a wide-ranging 639-lot event which attracted trade and private buyers from across the country and even some overseas interest in the telephone and on the book.
