An ex-Otto Schäfer lot, it fetched £9000 at Sotheby’s London in 1995. In the Freilich sale (Sotheby's New York, January 10 and 11), it made $75,000 (£51,725), while a copy of the 1781 book itself, containing 60 colour printed and hand-finished mineralogical plates, made $55,000 (£37,930).
