“It was a serious fire which started on the roof of the warehouse next door at about 3.30pm and spread quickly to our premises because of the wind,” Mr Morris told the Antiques Trade Gazette. “We only just had enough time to get everyone out.”

The decorator painting their new premises was slightly injured as he tried to put out the blaze which was then tackled by 15 fire engines. The whole of the area was sealed off.
The building was razed to the ground but although the company lost all their paper and computer records and some stock, they had not moved entirely out of their old premises and still kept their computer records backed up there, so they have been contacting clients all week.

“We’ve lost a lot of stuff and the loss adjusters are in now looking at it all,” said Mr Morris. “Everyone has been fantastic. Our competitors have offered us warehouse space and we have sent out letters to everyone on our records.”

The company will be operating out of their old Kings Cross premises for the foreseeable future while reviewing their plans, but say that it is “100 per cent business as usual”.
