Stella will mark the reopening of the complex – previously used for the disaster relief effort – with a special show on January 26 and 27 with 300 dealers on two piers.

This will not be one of the regular pier shows. “There is not a show traditionally held on this date, but when a date became available we felt it was a good thing,” said company president Leanne Stella.

“We are really excited about the piers reopening. It is such a relief.”

This will be a general antique show, but Ms Stella felt there would be a strong emphasis on Americana because of the timing of the show at the tail end of New York’s Americana Week.

The final word on the 69th St. Armory was expected as this issue went to press but Leanne Stella remained confident of a solution.

“It looks positive. We feel pretty confident about it. Our alternate site in Chelsea is also looking positive,” she said.

Stella also took the opportunity to announce a date change for the March pier events when all three piers will be open. The new dates are March 2-3 and 9-10 (instead of 16-17). “Being earlier in March has always been good for these shows,” Stella said.
