Impressed Minton and L. Solon (18)80, the 61/2in by 6in (17 x 15cm) plaques were slip layered with translucent images of Venus and Cupid on gloss black backgrounds and were in later gilt frames. They were in excellent, uncrazed condition and two London dealers, commissioned by private collectors, bid them to £20,000 (plus 10 per cen premium) after a dealer bidding for stock had pulled out at around £8500.
