The Observer reported last Sunday that Sotheby’s had instructed its estate agents Knight Frank to offer the premises on New Bond Street “in a desperate attempt to raise capital” and could expect more than £75m from a sale.
“We are frankly all puzzled,” said the executive. “There is absolutely no truth in this story at all. We have valued some of our outlying leases with a view to consolidating at Olympia but we have not sold any of our property nor do we intend to.”
Knight Frank confirm they have no property for sale on New Bond Street at present.
Sotheby’s deny Bond St sale claim
UK: Sotheby’s has strongly denied newspaper claims that its New Bond Street headquarters are up for sale, but a senior executive did confirm that the company has valued its other property in preparation for the move to Olympia this September.
