The survey will concentrate on the size of the market, the extent of international trade, employment numbers in the art market itself and related industries, and the fiscal and invisible earnings generated by the art market. It will also examine the competitive position of Europe in relation to its component countries as well as to the United States.

The survey, which is supported by the British Art Market Federation, the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, the leading art market association of France, and CINOA, the leading international dealers’ association, is to be carried out by the specialist art economics research company Kusin & Co, who conducted much of the background research for TEFAF’s report last year, The European Art Market 2000.

The new report will be launched on March 7 next year at the Maastricht International Fine Art and Antiques Fair.
