Foremost in this deceased estate was an 18th century side table with moulded border and turned tapering cabriole legs with pad feet. It was contested on the telephone and in the room selling to a London dealer at £2800 against modest £200-300 expectations.

A George III mahogany side table took £400, a smaller George III square table on slender square tapering legs fetched £520, and an 18th century oak dresser doubled hopes selling to a Home Counties dealer at £2100.

Outside of the collection, more of a surprise was the £660 bid by a local private buyer to hook a 11lb 5oz stuffed pike in a bow-fronted case against a £100-150 guideline.
