That is the theme of his third annual selling exhibition to be held this week at his 1776 home from September 12 to 15 with a preview by invitation only on the evening of September 11.
The mainly 18th century and earlier pieces are chosen for their style, strength of design and a special quality that raises them above the ordinary. The choice also reflects a love of native English woods.
Room settings bring together the furniture with decorative objects such as needlework, English delft, metalwork and treen, but in the modern garden room adjacent to the house there is another feel created by matching the work of a contemporary Shropshire potter with a Dorset painter and simple pieces of country furniture.
Robert describes his look as relaxed, sophisticated, stylish and easy to live with. To see for yourself ring Robert Hirschhorn on 020 7703 7443.
