The first fair in mid-winter Sydney last year got off to a start which had people speak of it as the country’s top fair. On the eve of the second fair – August 14 to 18 – Charles Aronson, president of the association, goes even further saying: “The first fair was widely acclaimed as the best ever fair in the southern hemisphere.”

He continued: “AADA members are highly respected for their expertise in their specialised fields and all of our members adhere to a strict code of practice.

“Our annual fair is the only fair in Australia which is vetted by the AADA.”

More than 40 of Australia’s top dealers will be on parade at Wharf 8 – opposite Napoleon Street on the harbour – with a large selection of goods including European, English and Australian furniture.

As I say, a long way for any British dealer to go for a fair. But as one of the Australians pointed out: “Your money buys so much more in the land of endless sunshine.”
