The next Arley is this weekend, from October 10 to 12, and you can expect some 45 exhibitors with largely traditional antiques for what is a solid traditional event with a general dateline of 1920 (although there are the usual exceptions, such as paintings which are allowed to 1935 and jewellery which stops at 1950).
Furniture is always a prominent Arley feature and while you will find all the staples, Church Street Antiques from Altrincham are promising more novelty, a stock of unusual seating which will include a Dawes reclining chair, modern in comfort but over 300 years old, priced at £3900, and a Crimean War campaign stretcher, which is a curious twist on seating, at £750.
Making their debut are the distinguished local clock specialists Coppelia Antiques from Plumley, who have a sister company Pendulum in Mayfair. Roy Clements, owner of the enterprise, will bring some very notable timepieces to the fair as well as Georgian furniture and an interesting selection of automata.
Other newcomers are Lida Black with antique lighting and Jane Radford from Gloucestershire with miniatures and silhouettes.

CHESHIRE remains a favoured county for fair organisers and Somerset-based Cooper Antiques Fairs are no exception, their premier event in the north being The Cheshire County Antiques Fair, held three times a year at Arley Hall, near Knutsford.
