But he is anxious for his exhibitors and visitors to know that the fair scheduled for Sunday, November 16 will go ahead at the site in a 1200 sq m, purpose-built temporary building erected outside the museum.
The Midland fixture is held six times a year, as is Carl’s Brunel Clock & Watch Fair at Brunel University, Uxbridge, but he has some better news concerning the latter venue.
Brunel University will spend £40m over the next five years to develop the site as a “sports centre of excellence”.
Part of this money will go towards doubling the size of the Cricket Hall, where Carl holds his fairs. This means that eventually the hall will accommodate 98 rather than 49 dealers, resulting in Brunel becoming a 200- rather than 153-table event. There is currently a waiting list of over 20 for tables.
There will, however, be some disruption to the fairs early next year when building works get under way. Meanwhile, the next Brunel fair is on Sunday, December 14.

MIDDLESEX organiser Carl Barnes has found much favour over the years with his specialist clock fairs, so he was dismayed recently when fire destroyed the National Motorcycle Museum, long the venue for his Midland Clock & Watch Fair.
