And what changes have the dealers noticed over the past quarter of a century? “When we began the emphasis was on carved oak, brassware and clocks, then the 1980s brought a boom for painted pine for export and now we are importing back to the UK Regency pieces, stylish occasional furniture and light fittings,” said John.
He continued: “It is a diverse market supplying dealers, interior designers for both commercial projects and homes, and private buyers themselves who are much more knowledgable nowadays.”
The business, which covers over 50,000 square feet of converted whisky bond and is now Scotland’s biggest, was founded in 1978 by Padraic Dixon who was joined by his brother John a few years later.
