The Freed Unit and the Golden Age of the MGM Musical offers more than 50 posters at prices from $150 to $2500 and showcases the work of producer Arthur Freed, who made many of the greatest films of the genre.
Rare posters from some of the most famous musicals of all time are featured. Fans of all ages are familiar with The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, Meet Me in St. Louis and Gigi.
Arthur Freed (1894-1973) and his legendary Freed Unit were responsible for a string of hit movie musicals and at the peak of his success Freed’s dazzling Technicolor productions involved some of the top creative talents of the day, directors like Vincente Minnelli and Stanley Donen, choreographers like Gene Kelly and, of course, the stars, among them Fred Astaire and Judy Garland.
Posteritati is located downtown at 239 Centre Street, directly opposite the historic Police Building, and at any one time the dealers stock more than 12,000 posters from around 38 countries.
