The developers, St James Homes, commissioned a collection of furniture, glass, textiles, ceramics and contemporary art to really set off the interior architecture of the seven-bedroom house.

The project involved 40 artists and designers working specially for the project, and they included some established big names and rising stars, among them Tom Dixon, Kate Blee, Ingo Maurer and Simon Pengelly.

This is thought to be the first time a British developer has commissioned serious contemporary work for a commercial showhouse with the selection and commissioning of work down to Rachael Barraclough, the curator of Sotheby’s Contemporary Decorative Arts exhibition.
