The public opening on May 1 will reveal, among other improvements, the complete refurbishment of the main saleroom, which has been used for auction since 1979. Lighting and heating have been upgraded throughout behind the original Grade II listed facade of the building.

An old store room has been knocked through to the main saleroom and revamped to create a new viewing area for furniture, while a further addition has allowed them to create a new reception at the main saleroom entrance.

Behind the scenes, facilities have been upgraded too, with new lavatories, including one for the disabled, replacing the old ones – “from grim to glorious,” Tim Holloway agreed.

Holloways will be celebrating the relaunch with a valuation day on May 8 and will hold their first sale, a 700-lot, two-day dispersal of fine art and antiques, on May 13 and 14.
