Her family have been dealing in France for three generations and her parents currently have a shop in Grasse. Laurence now deals under the name Fleurdelys Antiquites out of Gallery 289 in Westbourne Grove, W11 where she has made a name for herself with Oriental porcelain and, more recently, antique Chinese woodstands.
Now she is moving into fairs, hoping to plug a gap in the market left by Heritage Fairs, who for decades held popular Sunday fixtures. On March 9 Fleurdelys Antiques Fairs launch a Sunday event for silver, jewellery and objets d’art at the Thistle Hotel, Kensington Place, in De Vere Gardens, W8. There will be another on March 30 and thereafter two a month.
Hoping to fill gap in market
NICE to see some new young blood entering the fairs scene, but although she is just 32, London-based French dealer – soon to be organiser – Laurence Paul already has a lifetime’s experience in the antiques business.
