The fair was very tough for everyone, but it was some of the furniture dealers who came good on the Sunday. Dorset country furniture specialist Bryan Chew summed things up nicely when he described his fair as “happily muddling along to a nice profit”.
More formal furniture fared well on the stand of Bryn Hall from North Wales who sold a Victorian dining table and a set of 10 chairs while M&M Antiques found their journey from Devon worthwhile and “had to admit to a very good fair”.
Maybe there will be more general good cheer when Cooper Fairs launch their Wiltshire County Antiques Fair at Marlborough College this weekend from March 28 to 30.
The event will be greatly aided by a dedicated area for Thames Valley dealers who had to cancel their Spring TVADA fair.
The inclusion of the TVADA contingent brings the tally of exhibitors at this new fair up to almost 50 with the largest stand taken by the Great Grooms antiques centres of Hungerford and Dorking.
Most stock is datelined to pre-1920, and admission is £4.50.
