The fair will be held at the Leisure Centre of the town on August 30 and 31 and both exhibitors and organisers, Carmarthen-based Towy Fairs, are happy enough since their Cowbridge move in April proved popular attracting new buyers to a relaxed ambience with easy parking.

With 60 standholders this month’s fair is bigger than April and although it is hardly a parochial affair expect plenty of items with a Welsh flavour, especially maps, prints and furniture. Admission is £3.

Robert and Carol Pugh, who trade as Towy, ventured north of their native Carmarthen for the first time on the weekend of August 16 and 17 when they took 50 dealers to the Aberystwyth Antiques and Collectors’ Fair at Ysgol Penweddig in Llanbadarn Fawr on the outskirts of the university town. Visitors’ comments suggested the fair benefited from the general dearth of quality events in mid-Wales and successful areas included furniture and paintings by Welsh artists.

Booking is already strong for the next Aberystwyth fair on October 25 and 26.
