But he has not abandoned the Contemporary, an area he has developed in recent years at his gallery at 8 Duke Street, London SW1, and this week he opens an exhibition Uncovered, comprising new sculpture by David Williams-Ellis. The sculptures are all figurative renderings of the female figure and despite being contemporary it has been said they have the romantic power of Rodin.

The bronzes, all priced at £5800, have been given a weathered finish under the tutelage of the Bowman gallery’s restorer and it does give an attractively aged feel, as can be seen in this 201/4in (52cm) high work (from an edition of nine) with its antique opalescent green
patina. The show continues until March 21.
