The organisers maintain the idea of such a trade fair had generally been well received and they had confirmed just under 90 exhibitors from the spheres of art, decoration and reproductions. But basically there were not enough bookings from antique dealers to provide the event’s preferred profile.
It seems declining sales by antique wholesalers, particularly in Germany, meant they could not exhibit. The organisers are now going away to rethink the concept and hope to stage a fair next year.
Dealers are death of fair
THE new international trade fair for antiques, accessories, restoration and decoration, Novum Antique, planned for September 16 to 19 at Karlsruhe, near Stuttgart, has been cancelled.
