The saleroom in the town's Grove Trading Estate replaces Duke's old salerooms in Nicholas Street, Weymouth, which the auctioneers have now closed.

The auctioneers have acquired the freehold of the new Duke's Grove Auctions with purpose-built offices and onsite parking.

Partner Garry Batt said that the new rooms would enable the firm to extend the service they offered to clients. "Our aim is to create a fast-sales service, which is second to none." he explained. "We will be able to organise a complete house clearance at short notice, with a dedicated 'fast-track' service for solicitors and executors dealing with probate and estates."

Duke's Grove Auctions is the first new saleroom to open in Dorchester for decades. Sales will take place on Tuesdays at 10.30am, with viewings on the previous Saturday from 9.30am to 12 noon and on the Monday between 9.30am and 7pm.

Open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5.30pm, Duke's Grove Auctions will be managed by Chris Copson, assisted by Phil Traves and John Holmes. The team will have the day-to-day back-up of the specialists and administrative staff based at the Dorchester Fine Art Salerooms.

The first Grove auction is on October 26.
