The fair coincides with the launch by Landmark Collectors Library of Artists & Craftsmen of the 19th century Derby China Factory by David Manchip, a volume which details the careers of 114 painters, gilders and modellers who worked at the Derby factory between 1800 and 1848.
The author will be signing books at the fair.
Expect a maximum of 25 exhibitors, and you are guaranteed plenty of Derby wares. The fair will be repeated next March.
Home ground for ceramics
DERBYSHIRE dealer and now organiser, Nicholas Gent started Prestige Ceramics Fairs last June when he took over the London Ceramics Fair at the Lancaster Gate Thistle Hotel from veteran specialist fairs promoter Fred Hynds. He will be back in the capital next January, but, in the meantime, he launches a new event nearer home with the first Derbyshire Ceramics Fair at the Cavendish Hall, Chatsworth on October 9 and 10.
