The first book appeared in 1952, to be followed by The Borrowers Afield, ...Afloat and ...Aloft in the years 1955-61, but the fifth book, The Borrowers Avenged, was published only after a gap of 21 years, in 1982.

The other title present here is Poor Stainless of 1971, a Borrowers "reminiscence" that, according to a Brian Alderson letter to The Bookdealer that I once tucked into my Oxford Companion to Children's Literature had first appeared, illustrated with an Ardizzone headpiece in 1966 in The Eleanor Farjeon Book.

Seen here (top row, second left) is what Alderson, whose underlying theme in his letter was the dismal decline in children's book publishing, described as the "short tale [that] was turned into a book by Dent with eight rather blotchily printed line drawings by Diana Stanley".
