Mr Truman began his career at the Victoria & Albert Museum and rose through the ranks to become the assistant keeper in the ceramics department. In 1984 he was headhunted to run the silver department at Christie’s, going on to take charge of the antiques department of Asprey Plc, becoming director of Asprey Antiques Ltd. More recently he established C&L Burman (Works of Art) Ltd, the antiques dealers. He has also published extensively on precious metals, glass and French porcelain and is much sought after as a lecturer.

BADA’s elections also saw two new names added to the Council; Lennox Cato, the Edenbridge-based furniture dealer and 2003 BACA winner, and London-based silver dealer Daniel Bexfield. Former BADA chairman Nicholas Fowle, a furniture dealer from Norwich, also rejoins the council.
