Known throughout the trade as Dick, larger-than-life character Maurice Turpin established his dealership M. Turpin Ltd in 1948. His shop at 27 Bruton Street was always notable for its fine English and European cabinetmaking, however, he will also be remembered as a champion of the trade who played a key role in the founding of LAPADA.
After 25 years in the publishing and textile industries, David Howard opened his Mayfair gallery Heirloom and Howard specialising in heraldic objects in 1973. The following year he published the fruits of 20 years of research, Chinese Armorial Porcelain. Together with the two-volume China for the West Mr Howard co-authored with John Ayers, it remains the leading reference book in its field.
Trade mourning loss of two leading lights
