The total amount that the collecting agency distributed in August was more than double that of the first resale payments made in July. This figure is likely to increase further as royalties are collected from sales that occurred during the peak summer auction season.
In total DACS has now invoiced the art market for the sale of over £6.1m of art.
Chief executive of DACS Joanna Cave said: “We are very pleased to have made our second distribution of resale royalties. Furthermore, we are delighted to see that this royalty is supporting up-and-coming artists, and not just those at the peak of their careers.
“We have received some wonderful feedback from artists who have been astonished and delighted to receive their resale royalties.”
DACS distribute £65,000 in resale rights
THE Design and Artists Copyright Society (DACS) has made its second Droit de Suite pay-out to artists. It means that the collecting agency has now distributed over £65,000 since the resale levy was implemented in February. More than 140 artists have now received payments from DACS.
