There was significant damage to the west corner of the roof of the building, formerly the Museum of Mankind, but it appears the fire was not as widespread as initially thought. The blaze took hold on the afternoon of August 29 and firefighters fought to bring it under control.

Structural engineers will examine the premises this week and make a full assessment of the damage, although any September events are already called off.

Gordon Cooke, chairman of the London Original Print Fair, told ATG he expected to hold the fair as planned from April 25 to 29 and organiser Jason Franks has no fears for his fair LAPADA at the Royal Academy scheduled for the venue next May.
