The initiative encourages members of the public to donate high value objects in the knowledge that they will be valued by an expert. Jonty Hearnden, TV presenter and consultant editor to Miller’s Antiques & Collectibles Guide, is lending his face to the programme during 2007.

“Valued at Oxfam is calling for people to think creatively about what they can donate to Oxfam – you might have jewellery insured that you never wear or antiques collecting dust which could be turned into lifesaving funds for Oxfam’s work,” he explained.

Mr Hearnden has donated his first ever purchase – a Chinese Export plate – for the Nottingham sale that also includes a collection of Moorcroft pottery and period jewellery.

To make an enquiry about a donation – or to donate time as an expert – call 0845 6033647 to speak to one of Oxfam’s experts, pop into your local Oxfam shop or email to valued@oxfam.org.uk.
