Now Tracey and other famous Spitalfields creatives will have to pop round the corner to the antiques market as it is temporarily relocating from Commercial Street to Lamb Street, just a few yards away. Extensive building works at the historic Spitalfields covered market in recent years saw half the market building demolished; activists stopped the other half.

Michael Collins of market operators Sherman & Waterman Associates, said of the Thursday antiques market move: “There is a great deal of building work to be done to the floor of the market, so in order to keep the continuity rather than close the market until October while this work is going on, 60 of the 75 traders agreed to move around the corner to Lamb Street, to an open site which borders Commercial Street and Brushfield Street. This move takes effect from Thursday, July 19.”
