This makes the upmarket village of Penshurst in Kent very popuar with visitors.
This is good news for the twice-yearly Penshurst Antiques Fair held in the village hall. Usually organised by Beverley Nemet, who is currently away for three months, the three-day Easter event is being organised by locally-based Stephen Hazell-Smith, a specialist dealer in 20th century Scandinavian glass who exhibits at the Cambridge Glass Fair.
Stephen said: “Although this is quite a small fair, the quality is high, largely with the same dealers over the five or six years, selling china, jewellery, glass and silver. Because Penshurst is so popular, particularly over a holiday weekend, we have very good attendances at the fair of around 500-600 visitors a day over the three days.”
The antiques fair at Penshurst Village Hall is from Saturday to Monday, April 7 to 9.
