Scotland’s largest auction house, run by vice chairman Paul Roberts and managing director Nick Curnow under the chairmanship of Sir Angus Grossart, were among the shortlist of 25 companies in five regions vying for the title of Entrepreneur of the Year and a chance to receive up to £5m in interest-free funding.

While they failed to make it to the final five (the regional winner for Scotland and Northern Ireland was a manufacturer of prefabricated bath and shower room pods), they have been guaranteed funding for future plans.

According to their ‘sales pitch’, these include expanding their selling capacity at their Edinburgh base, relocating and enlarging their Glasgow office and further developing their office in London.

Funding is also to be used to develop L&T’s valuations department, create a collection management company and invest in marketing and new media infrastructure.
