Formerly owned by the late Lord Wardington, the manuscript, decorated by members of the Bedford workshop c.1410-1440, was sold by Sotheby’s in December 2006 to Hamburg dealer Dr Jörn Günther Antiquariat.
It was export-stopped allowing time for the BM to come up with the total purchase price of £635,200.
