Among the changes planned for this spring are the introduction of a secure area, ‘mySothebys’, where clients can gain access to their account information, buying and selling history, open balances and see real-time account updates.
New online features will also allow for pre-registration for bidding paddles, instant magnification of lot images, personalised lists of upcoming lots, saved searches and paperless options for invoices and statements.
Sotheby’s CEO Bill Ruprecht said: “At any time, from any place, anywhere in the world, our clients can access state-of-the art search capabilities.
“They can enjoy outstanding imaging and zooming features which bring art and objects alive and view their own personal and confidential client account information in a safe and secure way.”
Sotheby’s also plan to introduce streaming videos of their evening sales, starting this May in New York.
Sotheby’s bid to put their clients in control online
SOTHEBY’s are attempting to gain a lead over their competitors in the crucial area of client services by announcing major enhancements to their website. It follows the decision by rivals Christie’s to bring in new online features such as live bidding last year.
