James Giles’ ran the most accomplished of the 18th century china painting workshops in London and previous exhibitions have concentrated on its later, finest work carried out on Worcester porcelain between about 1765 and 1775.

This exhibition concentrates on the workshop’s earliest works, produced on Chinese porcelain when Giles first moved to his Berwick Street, Soho premises in 1743, before any English factories had started production, and also includes works by other decorating workshops operating in London at the same time.
