The move to St. James’s reflects the costs of holding a fair in a top West End hotel (cited when the Grosvenor House event folded after its 75th staging this year) but also the merits of a recently refurbished venue that looks well suited to a small-scale fair.

The 2009 fair (the 27th staging) was greeted as warmly as ever by the enthusiasts who frequent the fair every year and opened with the customary queue and a rush of business in the first hours.
