Leonard Joel will sell any such goods without any seller’s charges and vendors will also receive a 100 per cent tax deduction on the proceeds donated.

The auction house hope to raise over AUS$100,000 for the fund and have pledged to match any proceeds from the sale of goods donated up to the value of AUS$25,000 until March 31.

Among donations so far is a painting by the iconic Sydney artist, Grace Cossington Smith of the Australian bush that will be offered unreserved in the April Sunday Art Sale.

Warren Joel, chief executive of Leonard Joel, was himself a victim of the fires. He and his family were lucky to survive being trapped at their farm at Taggerty, which was partly destroyed.

Vendors who wish to donate the proceeds of the sale of their goods to the appeal can contact Warren Joel or Tim Goodman, group chairman c/o Celina Day celina.day@leonardjoel.com.au or (03) 9826 4333 during office hours.
