At this stage, the future of the early morning 40-stall covered market remains unclear, but Portobello campaigners say the planning application to demolish the market and build a new open-plan retail space with apartments above, which was granted in 2007, should be completely reconsidered now that the three-year window to carry out these works has elapsed.
