Cipolat SA are expecting 500 dealers at the first of these fairs at the Paris-Villepinte exhibition centre on March 11 and they hope these new events will attract those UK dealers who feel that the organisers' fairs in Montpellier and Lyon are too far for them to travel.

The picture hereshows a busy corner at the Montpellier fair which attracts 800 to 1000 exhibitors.

One of the new fair's attractions for David Tupman, who deals in Grand Tour pieces, Japanese works of art and bronzes, is that on the following day, March 12, he will be nipping up to Le Mans which is two hours by car from Paris, to the trade-only monthly large antiques and brocante market, the Déballage Le Mans, which runs from 8am to 1pm.

For exhibitors and buyers who want to make a week of it, the biannual Foire de Chatou in Paris runs from March 7-16 with 700 stands.
