The pottery is situated beside the Glamorgan canal and close to the coalfields needed to heat the kilns.
Apart from the museum house that was threatened with closure following local authority cuts two years ago, the site is in a ruinous state. The aim of the Friends of Nantgarw is to raise the money needed to qualify for various match-funding grants to restore it to its former glory.
A series of events are planned beginning with The Nantgarw Summer Antiques Fair at the Nantgarw China Works Museum (pictured here) on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25, followed on Monday, September 15, at 11am, by a talk by Henry Sandon.
Tickets to Henry's Desert Island Pots at Morgans Hotel in Swansea, followed by afternoon tea and ceramics appraisals, are available from the hotel at £20 each.
