The latest change in the capital's ever-shifting summer fairs calendar means Masterpiece will coincide with both London Art Week and the major Old Master sales series, while also overlapping with the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair's shortened run from June 27-July 3.

However, Haughton International Fairs' Art Antiques London event, whose 2016 dates were moved later in order to coincide with other fairs, will remain out in front, running from June 24-30.

Nazy Vassegh, chief executive of Masterpiece London, said: "Masterpiece takes place each year at the height of the summer art season in London. In 2016 the fair will coincide with London Art Week and the Old Master paintings auctions, appropriate for a fair that spans over 4000 years of art history.

"The dates for the fair change each year but always remain within the two important weeks when there is major art activity. If you look at our dates in 2011 they were at this time then also."
