New appointees include Dr Timothy Bolton as head of their Western Manuscripts and Miniatures department at Bloomsbury. A former Sotheby's specialist, he has been a consultant there since leaving the firm in 2013.

A published author of monographs on medieval history, he holds a number of auction records and oversaw the sale of the illuminated mid-15th century romance of Gillion de Trazegnies from Chatsworth for £3.8m in 2012. 

Mark Newstead joins Dreweaats at Donnington Priory as the new head of Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art. The former deputy head of Ceramics at Sotheby's has been a specialist for more than 30 years, handling sales such as The William Wilshire Collection of William de Morgan and the celebrated Albert Wade Collection of British Art Pottery.

Joining him at the Berkshire rooms will be senior watch specialist Jonathan Darracott, a 25-year veteran of the industry, whos experience includes 12 years at Sotheby's where he was the European head of watches and worldwide senior specialist, before becoming managing director of a small company making luxury watches in the heart of the Swiss watch-making region of La Chaux de Fonds.

After five years he returned to the UK to take up the post of director of the after sales service centre for Breitling.

Henry Bailey completes the list of appointments as he joins Donnington Priory's picture department under James Harvey.
