With emergencies being declared in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and driving bans in place in some areas, auctioneers have had no option but to suspend sales.
The cancelled sales include Freeman's European Art & Old Masters auction in Philadelphia which was scheduled for today but has now been moved to January 29.
The inclement weather has also caused Christie's to push back the sale of the Abbott Guggenheim collection in New York from today until tomorrow.
Many other sales are likely to be affected and ATG strongly advises checking with the saleroom before travelling.
