Each year, Showcase gives younger dealers a chance to have a small stand at the fair, which this year runs from March 13-22, leapfrogging the event's lengthy waiting list for one year only, although some do manage to go on to secure a stand in the main body of the fair.

Applicants must have been in business for at least three but no more than ten years, dealing at a high standard on an international level.

This year's selected Showcase exhibitors at The European Fine Art Fair in Maastricht are: Galerie Bacquart, Paris, founded by the former head of Tribal art at Sotheby's, Jean-Baptiste Bacquart; Galerie Eberwein, Paris, set up in in 2006 by Antonia Eberwein and specialising in antiquities from Egypt and neighbouring regions; Galerie Xavier Eeckhout, Paris, set up in 2006 by Xavier Eeckhout, a specialist in wildlife art with special interest in sculpture and objects of vertu; Eric Gillis Fine Art, Brussels, founded in 2011 by the eponymous art historian and collector, a specialist in the Belgian Symbolism movement, and dealing in art from the 15th century to the 1920s; and PYO Gallery LA, Los Angeles, founded in 2008 and dealing in contemporary East Asian Art.
