The organisers, Clarion Events, made the decision in the face of rising costs for the use of the venue.

“Olympia is synonymous with the Fair but the costs have increased to us by over 40% year on year,” said fair director Mary Claire Boyd in a statement to ATG. She added that reducing the length of the fair would help “mitigate the increase and enable us to reduce costs for exhibitors which we know is important.  The rates for our loyal exhibitors will be only 4% more than in 2010.”

ATG understands that provisions will be to accommodate delivery and set up for individual dealers on the tightened schedule.

“At six days, it is still very much in line with other top London fairs,” said Boyd.

The 26th Winter Art & Antiques Fair closed November 6 after its opening on October 31.

Next year’s fair will run from October 31 – November 5.
