Businesses with a single property with a Rateable Value of under £12,000 will pay no rates under the new plans. BADA are concerned that the scheme will have little or no impact in helping London’s antique dealers.
“We have campaigned for protection for art and antique dealers in areas such as St James’s and Pimlico,” said BADA CEO Marco Forgione. “It will be interesting to discover how other landlords are treating dealers.”
Meanwhile, BADA auctions have announced their first online sale on July 14. Just over 400 lots have been submitted from more than 40 members. A further 20 members have expressed an interest in signing up for the second auction.
