The association will expand its current Certificates of BADA Provenance process to provide certificated assurance of ivory objects, their age and the fact that they contain worked ivory.
BADA certificates feature an image and details of the item, with this data kept on a central BADA database.

“The aim is to ensure we are driving out any potential for modern or poached ivory to enter the system,” Marco Forgione, chief executive of BADA, said.
“We are offering the proof certification so the buyer is absolutely assured that the object is as described – an historical art object.”
Mark Dodgson, secretary general of BADA, said the scheme was on top of the association’s input into industry consultation announced by environment secretary Andrea Leadsom in September.
“We will continue to put our views about pre- and post-1947 ivory to government through BAMF,” he said.
More details about the service will be sent to BADA members in the coming weeks.
